An embroidered cotton floor spread or coverlet, Indian, circa 1780, the ivory ground worked overall in brilliant blue, yellow, red, peach, pink and green silks with a central oval medallion containing a single large flower head surrounded by delicate scrolling green leaves, tendrils and smaller blooms, the field formed from a trellis of interlinked blue and quartrefoils each cotaining blue, red and yellow blooms, the field invaded by palmette shaped panels of large flower sprays, the outer border of striking blue and yellow seed heads, flowers and foliage which echo the central medallion (overall extremely good conditions with brilliant colours), 284cm. by 224cm.
