A George II large mahogany and parcel-gilt suite of seat furniture designed by William Kent, the borders to the almost rectangular backs with arched crestings carved and gilt with interlaced scrolling foliage and chain ornament on a scale-pattern ground, the curved arms terminating in scrolls on concave supports, upholstered in the original crimson cut-velvet with a foliage design, the backs covered in a similarly patterned moreen, the seat frames on double-scroll legs similarly decorated with Red Indian masks and foliage and with S-scrolls, flanking shell panels to the centres of the seat frames, comprising: Twelve open armchairs; two love seats 50in. wide, and four stools - 26in. wide
