Description: 

One of two French M 1822 percussion service pistol. Brass mounts, half stock, short steel rammer with large, hollow head. Made in the government factory at Mutzig, and marked on the barrel tang M 1822. It is a conversion from flintlock and is marked : on lock, MRE ROYAL MUTZIG; on stock 647. Length overall 14in length barrel 7 3/4in. 19th century.
