A George I gilt-gesso side table with moulded border to the rectangular top decorated in relief with a Malpas coat-of arms below a Viscounts coronet, strapwork and scrolling foliage on a pounced ground, the frieze with shaped apron to the front and sides, on cabriole legs with satyr masks on the knees and cloven hoof feet, 30in. wide. The arms are those of Walpole and Cholmondeley for Viscount Malpas, later 3rd Earl of Cholmondeley, who married Mary, daughter of the 1st Earl of Orford in 1723, He succeeded his father in 1733.
