The Penny Cup: A large Sheffield Plate two-handled vase and cover, on square plinth and paw feet, the borders richly embossed with flowers and foliage, the body engraved with inscriptions, the cover with foliage finial - 21in high. The inscriptions read "A Specimen of The Present State of the Plated Manufacture of the Town of Sheffield, March 28th 1820" and "This Cup Purchased by individual subscription of One penny each, is Presented by the Artizans of Sheffield and its Vicinity to the Right Honourable Earl Fitzwilliam As a testimony of their approbation of his upright and Patriotic Conduct During the twenty Years he held the high Office of Lord Lieutenant and Custos Rotulorum of the West Riding of the County of Yorks".
